This photo was taken by Manfred Rinderspacher during a performance of the Count Basie Orchestra led by Frank Foster in Germany in February 1987, just one month before Freddie Green's death on March 1. This photo provides some sense of Freddie's extremely high string height, or action setting on his guitar. This photo was accompanying an obituary by Alexander Schmitz.
